Do we remember past lives or remember the lives of others?

A Critique on the Theory of Reincarnation: Do we remember past lives or remember the lives of others?
At present, many people believe and are fascinated with the idea of reincarnation. The shelves of bookstores are full of books on the subject, it is even fashionable to be done with the help of hypnosis a "regression" in order to discover and to remember our "past lives." The fact that many people remember events and experiences that are completely safe outside of their current life, is perhaps the strongest argument in favor of the theory of reincarnation. How to explain these experiences? Who am I, really? Am I someone from the past that after successive "lives" now lives in this new temporary body?

If reincarnation is true, is based on two important assumptions that is appropriate to consider:

First, I existed before birth.

Second, that each of us and all the ancestors that preceded us from the very beginning, and every baby we engender and believe us, we are "someone" who has already experienced countless times in the past. Despite my current personality, my gender, DNA, genes, looks, character and individuality unique and unrepeatable, "I" am that "someone" of the past is now using this body where I live now.

All this necessarily presents a serious identity problem. In this sense, the least attractive thing in the theory of reincarnation is that our identity would change with each new life. Even if no individual essence profound change, like many believers in this theory held, this position is strong objections. If we reincarnate, our identity is absolute only in relation to ourselves. You can not build a couple and family finally and forever. We are simply moving individual souls in this vast cosmos, being born and getting married to each other repeatedly. After we die we go back and temporarily belong to another family, the other spouse. No continuity beyond the individual self. There are no eternal marital or family relationships.

In contrast, the beauty of real love and authentic is that we want our spouse and family is eternal and absolute that bond. That our father is always our father, our mother is always our mother, our beloved spouse is always our spouse that "soul mate" permanent, our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other descendants are still our children. Ancestors and descendants, that beautiful concept of lineage and descent comes to lose all meaning with the theory of reincarnation.

Problems with Reincarnation
Moreover, if we start from these two assumptions already mentioned, that we exist before birth and that we lived previous lives, and apply them rigorously in order to explain the growth and evolution of our minds, the conclusion is that it should arrive be a fixed number of human spirits. That number, at least, should be at least approximately 6,000,000,000 of souls who are living at this time in the bodies of the current human population. The number of spirits would repeatedly return to Earth several times to incarnate and reincarnate. The number of reincarnations necessary or possible varies widely in different spiritual traditions that keep the belief in reincarnation.

The first problem with this approach is that there would be no "multiplication" or population growth in the human spiritual beings, and we definitely see that happening in this physical plane. Unless, invent new theories to explain as it appears, is born or created each new human spirit. For example, 10,000 years ago when the number of inhabitants was relatively small compared to today, we can imagine the huge list consists of all those spirits hoping to find an available body to reincarnate given the small number of bodies in comparison to of spirits.

If the eternal and indestructible spirit that we all possess when we are born not created. When, how and where it appeared that large numbers of people spiritual? When, where and how they were born, bred or were created? Definitely, the theory of reincarnation raises many more questions than answers.

We do not simply continue to exist after our death. From the beginning and throughout our lives, we live in both worlds, the physical and spiritual. Although most are not aware of this, because our spiritual senses are not open, we are surrounded by a large number of observers. Although they are disembodied spirits are around us and influence and guide our daily business.

Roman Catholic theology and the Christian Orthodox recognize that fact in their doctrine in what is known as the mystical communion of saints. Catholics claim that there is a constant communion between the physical and the spiritual world. Therefore emphasize the importance of prayers to receive the intercession of the saints and to continue with its concern for the spiritual health of this world. It also teaches that each person has a guardian angel who assists us to avoid evil and to act justly. It also recognizes the existence and influence of evil spirits. The gospel clearly shows how Jesus Christ believed in these demonic forces and spent time in his ministry to free many people from such influences.

These beliefs are very similar in most religions in the world. In the East, for example, (Confucianism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc.). There is great respect and worship of deceased ancestors, whom they worship and asked protection.

Mystics, seers, saints and spiritualists who have knowledge and real life experiences in the spirit world, recognize the close relationship and close between these two worlds and that we are aware or not, no one can escape this influence.

We remember the lives of others
One person might be considered an authority on this issue, is the scientific and eighteenth-century mystic Emmanuel Swedenborg, who visited and explored the spiritual world for almost 30 years, recording many of his experiences in 30 volumes published in Latin.

According to Swedenborg people do can really remember past lives, however, remember the lives that were not his own but those of others who lived in the past. We can access the memory of the spirits that work and are associated with us so we can remember their lives as if they were our own. Usually these spirits have in common with us a character, level, temperament and similar mission, and is therefore associated with us. The good spirits benefit and cooperate with us to accelerate our spiritual development and restoration work in the providence of God. In exchange for that service, they can advance to higher levels through the people they help. In contrast, evil and vengeful spirits can influence us and tempt us to act immoral or violent. These spirits vent influence people to perform immoral and destructive actions because of their low level and their tremendous frustration and resentment. In this case the person must strongly resist the evil impulse, confront and overcome it, because otherwise, you can not get rid of those negative influences. Spirits are always attracted to people who have a level circumstances, temperament and mission similar to theirs. There must be a reciprocal basis, either consciously or subconsciously.

Experiment to refute Reincarnation
To verify experimentally the above thesis and to refute what is perhaps the most convincing argument in favor of reincarnation, based on being able to remember "life" passes, we propose the following experiment:

1. Select an unbiased person who has not undergone a "hypnotic regression" above. To establish that this person can be hypnotized, and he does not remember what he says during hypnosis.
2. Choose at least three "regression" may not be known among them.
3. Make the "regression" under observation, videotaped, and not informing the subject of the experiment none of the content of "regression" until all data are collected.
4. Summarize as much as possible "lives" described during the sessions of "regression", separately, by researchers who do not know each other.
5. Compare the times and dates in the time of the data collected by the three "regression." If two or more of the "lives" registered place in a time similar to what can reasonably be explained given the uncertainty of the information obtained, then the "regression" does not prove reincarnation, since a spirit can not embodied in two bodies at the same time.

In addition, if reincarnation were true, one would expect that everyone will remember always the same sequence of "lives" in every meeting held by each of the "regression." Believers in reincarnation, without giving an explanation to this, insist that things do not work that way.

In conclusion, this is the dilemma: "remember" past lives ", or remember the lives of others?
